OREANDA-NEWS. June 18, 2015. Ford released its 16th annual Sustainability Report entitled “Global Mobility Through Changing Times.”  This report details the company’s environmental and social performance as a result of the team’s work and commitment in producing superior products and conducting business with minimal environmental impacts.   @Ford recently discussed the Sustainability Report with Ford Global Director of Sustainability and Vehicle Environmental Matters John Viera. Below are excerpts from that question and answer session.

Q: What are you most excited about in this year’s sustainability report?

A: This year marks Ford’s 16th year of sustainability reporting, leading our industry peers and most other major corporations with how long we have been transparent in the sustainability space. That’s something I’m personally really proud of. There are a number of areas where we've made gains that I'm really excited about. For starters, we have continually improved our average fuel economy across our global fleet of vehicles – a priority we will continue to build on in the future. We also continued our leadership in the industry of using sustainable and bio-based materials to improve the environmental footprint of our vehicles, including using REPREVE, a 100 percent recycled material in the seat fabric of the all-new Ford F-150, which will divert more than 5 million plastic bottles from landfills in 2015 alone. On the manufacturing side, Ford reduced our absolute water use by 3 percent, our manufacturing C02 emissions per vehicle by more than 22 percent, while cutting waste to landfill by 21 percent. Lastly, and very importantly, our employees globally are recognizing what a positive place Ford is to work.
