OREANDA-NEWS. The VIII Regional Public Forum-Dialogue “70 years of Russian atom. National interest, ecology and safety” took place in Chelyabinsk, the event was held on June 10-11, 2015.

The key industry-scale event devoted to the 70-th anniversary of the national nuclear industry was participated by more than 300 individuals, representatives of federal and regional authorities, municipalities, heads of nuclear industry enterprises, scientists, experts, representatives of environment protection and public organizations, journalists and bloggers. The Forum was attended by Mr. Sergey Kirienko, Director General of ROSATOM, Mr. Alexander Moiseev, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Urals Federal District, Mr. Boris Dubrovskiy, the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region.

The Forum participants discussed the achievements, issues and perspectives in the area of nuclear industry. The Forum participants and organizers paid special attention to the dialogue on the issues of environmental safety, search for formats of interaction between enterprises of ROSATOM and regional business on the basis of closed administrative-territorial areas, identification of effective interface tools between public society and nuclear industry, development of nuclear industry presence territories.

"The Forum-Dialogue is a key event of Public Council of ROSATOM and gives for the company an opportunity to become closer to the people, - made his comment Mr. Sergey Baranovskiy, the President of the Public organization Russian Green Cross, Deputy Chairman of Public Council of ROSATOM. "This year the Forum site assembled representatives from over 20 public organizations of federal and regional levels including anti-nuclear ones. Everyone has got an opportunity to express his point of view, and for the industry experts to give the substantiated answers for all the questions. The  Public Council of ROSATOM is not going to rely on the premises and continue to arrange the similar events for development of constructive dialogue with the public" - he added.

The draft of the resolution developed based on the Forum-Dialogue results will be submitted for review to the members of Public Council of ROSATOM for introduction of comments and suggestions, than it will be approved at the meeting of the Council.

The VIII Regional Public Forum-Dialogue “70 years of Russian atom. National interest, ecology and safety” was arranged by Public Council of ROSATOM, Russian Ecology Congress, Inter-Regional Environmental Public Organization Green Cross, and Non-Governmental Environment Protection Fund named after V.I. Vernadskiy.

The Regional Public Forum-Dialogue is an annual event devoted to discussion of pending issues in the area of nuclear industry development with involvement of representatives from ROSATOM, regional executive and legislative authorities, public and scientific organizations, mass-media.
