SUEK Miners Have Improved World Record for Drilling' Speed
OREANDA-NEWS. For the second time in a week the miners of the Management of Methane Degassing and Recycling (MMDaR) (part of OJSC "SUEK-Kuzbass") set the record at underground drilling.
On May 27th at "S.M. Kirov" mine team #3 of underground drilling site of MMDaR drilled 594 meters during the day by the drilling system equipped with a space orientation system VLD 1000A (Australia). Thus the team has improved its own world record by 30 meters.
It is noteworthy that the former record was broken by the team who broke the world record in just five days. On May 22nd the crew has drilled 564 meter during the day.
Evgeniy Yetaev, CEO of OJSC "SUEK-Kuzbass" congratulated the miners with the victory: "Two records on speed drilling in one week - it is an extraordinary achievement in the history of the company. This steady increase of the speed of drilling - is the result of a systematic approach to the work organization of the enterprise, effective use of modern drilling equipment and, of course, miners' skill of the Management".
VLD 1000A system was purchased in 2011 and used at "S. M. Kirov" mine for effective integrated degassing using directional drilling degasification wells.
