CP Chem reports upset at Cedar Bayou NAO plant

OREANDA-NEWS. June 04, 2015. Chevron Phillips Chemical reported an upset at its Cedar Bayou, Texas normal alpha olefins plant yesterday, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

NAO unit 1797 experienced a gas leak on a knockout drum. The leak was isolated and downstream piping was depressurized to the flare. The incident resulted in emissions of butene and ethylene, among other materials.

The unit recently returned from a planned maintenance in late May.
