OREANDA-NEWS. Opel and Chevrolet, owned by American automaker General Motors, refused to participate in the program of parc replacement (utilization and trade-in) in Russia.

According to Prime agency, on 18 March, GM announced withdrawal of Opel and mass models of Chevrolet from the Russian market and focused on Cadillac and Chevrolet premium models. GM plant in St. Petersburg will stop production by the middle of 2015. The company stops contract assembly of the Chevrolet Aveo at GAZ Group’s facilities in Nizhny Novgorod and SKD production at Avtotor in Kaliningrad this year. Dealers sell out Opel vehicles and Chevrolet mass models with 25% discount.

GM non-participation in parc replacement program was confirmed by the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. GM-AVTOVAZ is in the program, he said.
