OREANDA-NEWS. June 03, 2015. Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici met Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov in the Burabay city, Kazakhstan, on 28 May evening. The officials exchanged opinions on up-to-date issues of common interest.

The Moldovan prime minister referred to the priorities of the government: national unity, supremacy of law and sustainable economy. Gaburici said that Belarus, as one of the important trade partners of Moldova, had an important role in achieving these objectives. Thus, in 2014, the commercial exchange of goods between Moldova and Belarus grew by over eight million dollars against the year before, and the export of Moldovan products to the Belarusian market stood at 134.7 million dollars (149 per cent against 2013).

"We welcome this positive dynamic and we want to continue our cooperation both in the political and economic sectors, in order to carry out as many as possible important projects for the benefit for the people from both countries," Chiril Gaburici said.

At the same time, the Moldovan prime minister emphasised that the enforcement of the provisions of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union, including in terms of creating the Free Trade Area, did not run counter the agreements of the free trade accord between the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, but on the contrary - opened new opportunities for developing the Moldovan-Belarusian economic ties.

For his part, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov confirmed the openness of the government of Belarus for cooperation and development of partnerships in diverse sectors. "It is important that we avoid politicizing the collaboration. We are open for cooperation, as you have what we do not have and vice versa. We are ready to provide you with the needed expertise as regards the infrastructure. We should not rely on political dissensions. The development of economic relations is very important and we cannot ignore this," Andrei Kobyakov said.

The Belarusian side expressed willingness to facilitate the import of Moldovan goods, especially perishable agricultural products, and increase the Belarusian investments in Moldova.

Seventeen enterprises with Belarusian capital are registered in Moldova. The main investment projects carried out in partnership with Belarus in Moldova deal with modernising the industrial park of agricultural machinery, assembling trolley buses and selling construction materials.
