OREANDA-NEWS. Thanks to support from Rio Tinto Alcan, local nurses and other health staff will have a new place to call home while their usual residence in Gove receives essential fire safety upgrade works.

More than 30 hospital and primary health care staff will move into properties offered by Rio Tinto Alcan under a commercial arrangement, so local builders can revamp the staff quarters at Gove District Hospital Campus.

Top End Health Service, East Arnhem general manager Lisa Pullen said “We are very fortunate that Rio Tinto Alcan has offered to provide 16 three-bedroom houses to temporarily accommodate our staff.

“The provision of these houses means that health staff will have a high quality of accommodation while we complete the staged works.

“Thank you to Rio Tinto Alcan for supporting our hardworking staff during the staff quarters upgrade.”

Rio Tinto Alcan Gove general manager operations Ben Devries said “The Gove District Hospital delivers a vital service to the region and we are pleased to provide this temporary housing to support its nurses and other health staff.

“We’re proud we can play a small part in supporting this upgrade programme and the benefits it will provide for the local community.

“In particular, it’s great to see Gove District Hospital assisting economic development with this investment in the East Arnhem region.”
