McKesson’s Zubiller and Phillips to Propose New Utilization Management Model at AHIP’s Institute 2015
Zubiller and Phillips’ session, “Utilization management is broken. Here's how to fix it for a value-based world,” will take place on June 4 at 3:35 p.m. in room 201AB. Mr. Zubiller and Ms. Phillips will discuss how CMS’s new imperative to base 50% of reimbursement on measures of value by 2018 and the overall shift to value-based care has rendered current UM models inadequate. Mr. Zubiller and Ms. Phillips will detail a contemporary approach that capitalizes on health IT to transform utilization management from the blunt instrument it is today to a more elegant, efficient, automated process that can help improve care quality, the payer-provider relationship and the patient experience.
“You don’t have to rip and replace your existing utilization management system to compete effectively in a value-based world,” Zubiller says. “Let’s bridge the old and the new so that payers and providers can reduce administrative and medical costs by driving the ability to anticipate costs earlier in the continuum, before the care is delivered. AHIP’s Institute is a perfect venue for what I think will be a stimulating presentation and one that I hope will spark a lively discussion during and after the session.”
AHIP’s Institute 2015 will gather America’s healthcare professionals to focus on making healthcare work better for consumers and the entire ecosystem. McKesson will answer attendees’ questions and will provide a solution set of products and services to help navigate complex market challenges and “Focus Ahead for Better Health” at Booth #903.
