OREANDA-NEWS. Australian coal producer New Hope recorded a 2.8pc rise in thermal coal sales to 4.47mn t in the nine months to 30 April against 4.34mn t for the same period a year earlier. Its saleable thermal coal output rose by 3.9pc to 4.29mn t over the same period.

The increase in the nine-month coal sales were helped by a 4.4pc rise in coal sales to 1.39mn t during February-April from the same period a year earlier.

New Hope also operates the 10mn t/yr coal terminal at Brisbane, which reported a 9.4pc fall in export throughput to 5.26mn t in the nine-month period. New Hope reported a loss of A\$23.1mn (\$18.2mn) for August-January because of a A\$58.5mn impairment charge on its oil assets.
