Brief description of call: Since 2003, the number of Mainland travelers to the U.S. has grown nearly 15 times to over 2 million visitors last year. Combined with the recent expansion of U.S. visa validity for Chinese tourists to ten years, this upward trend is poised to continue. The U.S. Consul General in Shanghai invites U.S. businesses to join him and a panel of experts to discuss this explosive growth in Chinese travel to the U.S. and talk about how to take advantage of the exciting opportunities it presents. Also joining the Consul General will be the head of Consulate Shanghai’s Foreign Commercial Service, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Office, and a representative from the Consulate’s Visa Section. After providing a brief overview of China’s travel market, the panel will be available to answer specific questions about the exciting opportunities and challenges of attracting more Chinese visitors.
