OREANDA-NEWS. The Belarusian Railway will meet the guests and participants of the USIC Volleyball Championship.

The Men’s Volleyball Championship will be held in Gomel. The competition will take place in the Sports and Recreation Complex of the Belarusian railway.

12 teams from Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Russia, Poland, Switzerland, France and Czech Republic are going to battle for the first place in the 16th USIC Championship.

According to the draw in Vietri sul Mare (Italy), the teams were divided into four groups.

28 games will be played from the 11th to the 16th of June. IC referees will judge the contest.

The championship is an important event for the railways athletes from Europe and Asia. It will make our country more attractive for tourists and the international public, encourage the athletes to master their skills and to develop friendly relations.

Beside the arrangement of the championship, the Belarusian Railway made a sightseeing tour programme for the international guests. The participants will travel around Gomel and the suburbs and do the sights.

Interestingly, the championship will take place in the city, where the Belarusian State Transport University, Transport College and Transport High School are located. The graduates from these educational establishments are employed with transport enterprises and companies all over Belarus, including the Belarusian Railway.

The International Railway Sports Association (USIC) was founded in 1946. 24 European and Asian countries are USIC members.

The Belarusian Railway became a USIC member in 2000. During its membership, the teams of the Belarusian Railway successfully participated in a number of competitions in football, futsal, shooting, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, skiing, bowling and chess.

In 1983, USIC Volleyball Championship took place in Mogilev.

2015-championship will be devoted to the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. It will be held in the year that was declared the Youth Year in Belarus.

The Association has a long history. USIC competitions make an important contribution to the international sports movement. USIC arranges competitions in 21 sports. Volleyball is one of the most popular sports among the national USIC organizations.
