OREANDA-NEWS. IDGC of Centre is implementing a new innovative product at its facilities - low-value resistors. The first region, where the company began to use them, is the Tambov region: the new resistors were installed at the 35/10 kV substation "Ekaterininskaya".

Low-value resistors are used to selectively disable connections to ground fault. Their use allows to eliminate the negative impact of high-frequency arc surges on cable lines with XLPE insulation, leading to deterioration of their life cycle. It also eliminates the threat of shocking people and animals with single-phase earth faults. In addition, low-value resistance neutral grounding is much more economical when compared with neutral grounding with arc suppression coil.

In the future IDGC of Centre plans to expand the practice of low-value resistors. In view of their properties and benefits, they will be used, in particular, at new feeding centres with taps of 6-10 kV cables of XLPE; on power lines of 6-10 kV with special requirements for electrical safety and in grids with 6-10 kV high-voltage electric motors (oil production, oil and gas transmission units, pumping stations, water treatment plants and others).
