Volkswagen to launch engine plant in Kaluga in the second half of 2015
OREANDA-NEWS. Volkswagen company will start serial production of petrol engines at the plant in Kaluga in the second half 2015. The first product of the enterprise will be 1.6-liter engine, which will power Volkswagen and Skoda vehicles assembled in Russia, including the Polo sedan, the Yeti, the Octavia and the Rapid. The engines of the first lot assembled in February 2015, are being tested, Za rulyom.RF reports.
Volkswagen Group Rus plant is located in Grabtsevo industrial park in Kaluga. Production capacity of the enterprise is 225,000 vehicles per year. The Kaluga plant produces the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Polo Sedan and the Skoda Rapid. Moreover, Volkswagen assembles the Skoda Yeti, the Octavia and the Volkswagen Jetta at GAZ Group’s facilities.
