OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2015. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that Business Ombudsman will protect the interests of Ukrainian business: "He will receive complaints from entrepreneurs regarding the work of public authorities and will have connection directly with the Cabinet of Ministers and all public authorities with the purpose to protect the entrepreneurs, to remove additional bureaucratic restrictions existing in the country today and to ensure presence of investors in Ukraine, despite the difficult times we face."

Arseniy Yatsenyuk said during a meeting of the Government of Ukraine on Wednesday, May 20, with participation of Business Ombudsman of Ukraine Algirdas Shemeta.

The Prime Minister also said that today during the preparation of the agenda of the current session of the Cabinet of Ministers he saw a draft decision on the granting of permission for unscheduled inspections of business entities of urban development: "They allegedly said they should check exceptionally complex objects - "Energoatom", thermal power plants, major military objects. What do our officials want to check? The reconstruction of an entrance of catering facilities, the construction of a pig farm. It is just to take bribes".

"And then we talk about improvement of a business climate in the country?" he added.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the work of the newly appointed Ombudsman will afford to prevent such situations.

He also reminded that last year Ukraine had improved in the Doing Business ranking of the World Bank by 16 positions, despite the war: "I believe that after the appointment of a Business Ombudsman and after our Ombudsman starts work, we will improve our performance in the Doing Business in Ukraine even more than last year".
