OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2015. TDK Corporation announces the successful development of the HMS series of compact unit type power supplies under the TDK-Lambda brand, designed for long service life and high efficiency in a small package. The lineup comprises four models rated for 50 W, 80 W, 100 W, and 150 W, to meet a wide range of customer needs. TDK-Lambda Corporation will start accepting orders for the new products from June, and mass production will begin in July 2015.

The HMS series can obtain input voltage from either DC lines or AC lines. The lower limit of the new series for operation on a DC input is 80 V (load factor 80%), which is 10 V lower than with the existing series. When handling voltage drops of a power source such as a battery, this broadens the operation range and helps to improve equipment performance. The expected electrolytic capacitor service life is a full 10 years when operating continuously (24 hours a day) at a load factor of 50% in a 40?C environment. This impressive rating will contribute significantly to the reliability of end products in which the power supplies are used.

Compared to the existing series, efficiency has been improved by 4%, and internal heat generation has also been reduced. This made it possible to reduce the volume by 55%, thereby providing the customer with much flexibility for equipment design.
