NEC provides Ministry of Education of Buenos Aires with virtual classroom solution
The virtual classes are an e-learning solution for remote education implemented by the Ministry of Education as part of its "Plan de Estudios Adultos 2000," a series of initiatives in response to the unmet educational demand by individuals who were unable to conveniently access school facilities.
NEC's solution provides the Ministry of Education with an integrated platform for virtual classes, "Aulas Virtuales," making it a modern and customized option in support of remote education.
Since launching in October 2014, more than 350,000 users have registered for the solution, which enables flexible interaction between teacher-student and student-student through a standard internet browser. A teacher gateway allows instructors to quickly interact with students, including the configuration of surveys, tests and the transmission of questions or concerns posted by students. Each instructor also has a work space that enables them to review the progress of students as well as design personalized activities.
A student gateway provides students with their own work space, where pending and completed activities are listed for each course being taken. The solution also displays courses that students have signed up for or are required in order to complete their studies. Moreover, it includes access to the surveys and tests assigned by the teacher or by the syllabus.
The solution is complemented by a report management module that allows the Ministry of Education to obtain operating statistics or reports for the assessment of educational programs.
"The successful deployment of this new 'Virtual Clasess' solution, created by NEC in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, was accomplished in just 4 months and represents a meaningful advancement for national education," said Miguel Steger, Department Manager, Cloud Computing & e-government IT Solutions Competence Center, NEC Latin America S.A. "We have achieved a new way for conveniently completing required education courses, and in the first months of 'Virtual Clasess' alone, more than 350,000 students have enrolled in this platform, and the figure continues to climb."
