Nissan plant in St. Petersburg decreased production by almost 50% in I quarter
OREANDA-NEWS. Nissan plant in St. Petersburg reduced production by 48.3% to 4,908 vehicles in the first quarter of 2015. In 2014, Nissan production in St. Petersburg decreased by a third to 47,000 vehicles. Today the enterprise manufactures the Teana, the Murano, the X-Trail, the Pathfinder, which will be added with Qashqai in the fourth quarter of 2015 (its sales will start in December), Nissan spokesman says.
Decrease in Nissan production is a reaction to the decline in the Russian market, Nissan representative says. According to AEB data, in the first quarter of 2015 the sales of the brand in Russia reduced by 41% to 27,183 vehicles, the total market decreased by 36.3%. However, if to take into account Datsun, which was chosen by 9,339 customers in the first quarter of the year, Nissan sales decreased by only 20%.
At the same time, the dealers are not overstocked, having vehicles for 2-3-month sales, one of dealers says. Short-term prospects for the company is increase in localization level and recovery of the market, VTB Kapital analyst Vladimir Bespalov believes.
