Lviv-Ivano-Frankivsk road via Bibrka will be built in Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2015. The Ukrainian Government has allocated UAH 1 billion on repair of roads in Ukraine. The sum of UAH 700 million is planned in the budget for road construction in the western region. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced during An Hour of Questions to the Government at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Friday, May 15.
The Head of Government noted to apply the funds the officials had had several meetings with MPs of Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to the members of Parliament for "their understanding of what road to build and how to prevent either the embezzlement of budget funds and wasting these budget funds”.
The joint decision of the MPs and the Government, according to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, is "to build a decent road from Lviv to Ivano-Frankivsk via Bibrka".
According to expert calculations, the construction of the road requires UAH 700 million, "But knowing, how roads are built in Ukraine, I think the sum of 550 million hryvnyas will be sufficient. Because, as a rule, while dealing with roads everyone becomes a millionaire, if not a billionaire. We want to save money during the construction of this road".
Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that the Government had already embarked on drawing foreign inspectors, "who are capable to verify the quality of work, quantity of work and their cost."
In addition, according to him, about UAH 200 million will be directed by the Government for the repair of roads in other regions of western Ukraine, as was agreed with MPs.
The Prime Minister also informed that taking into account a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development there is a remaining sum worth EUR 60 million saved by an exchange rate difference. He stressed that the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine is negotiating with the EBRD to agree spending those funds to build a road to Rakhiv.
