Today, at its Annual Public Meeting, Vancouver Airport Authority released its 2014 financial and operating results and launched YVR 2057, a multi-year public consultation program focused on the development of a new 20-year Master Plan for land use planning at Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

“Today we are launching our newest Master Plan consultation called YVR 2057. This plan will inform our future land use and how we will meet the needs of our stakeholders and communities,” said Craig Richmond, President and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “Our goal is to ensure that YVR can serve our growth while continuing to be a jobs creator and economic generator for British Columbia.” 

This future planning also supports the updated Strategic Plan for Vancouver International Airport that was approved by the Airport Authority’s Board of Directors in 2014. Core objectives include creating a connecting hub; delivering remarkable customer experiences; being a leader in sustainability; and building on YVR’s exceptional foundation.

“To meet the ever increasing competition, we crafted a new Strategic Plan to deliver on our mission of connecting British Columbia proudly to the world,” said Mary Jordan, Chair, Board of Directors, Vancouver Airport Authority. “The new plan sets an ambitious goal of serving 25 million passengers by 2020, within a vision that sees YVR as a world class, sustainable gateway between Asia and the Americas.”

Highlights from YVR’s 2014 Annual Report were also presented at the Annual Public Meeting and showcased the airport’s record year for growth. YVR served more than 19.4 million passengers, a 7.7 per cent increase, and handled 256,000 tons of cargo, a 12.5 per cent increase. YVR remained the home to 24,000 jobs on Sea Island.

YVR was awarded a sixth consecutive win at Skytrax for Best Airport in North America and celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Green Coat Volunteer Program. Significant projects included the expansion and upgrade of the Domestic Terminal (opened in January 2015), construction commencing on the McArthurGlen Vancouver Airport Designer Outlet Centre, and the sale of 338 BorderXpress kiosks to airports around North America and the first international location, in Aruba.  

At the Annual Public Meeting, Chair Mary Jordan welcomed four new Directors, Annalisa King, Ken Martin, Kush Panatch and Wayne Wright, to Vancouver Airport Authority’s Board of Directors.
