Moldovan premier meets PACE co-rapporteurs
OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici met Co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for Moldova Piotr Wach and Lise Christoffersen today.
The officials tackled the political, social and economic situation in Moldova, as well as the government’s actions in order to implement the objectives of development of Moldova and the assumed commitments, including in the context of cooperation with Moldova’s strategic partners.
Gaburici highlighted that the Moldovan government was undertaking measures to boost reforms and spoke out for an open dialogue with representatives of different political formations and those of civil society in this respect. Chiril Gaburici underlined that his team would do its utmost to fulfill the commitments taken by Moldova at local and foreign levels.
„The reform of justice and law-enforcement bodies, fight against corruption and economic development represent priority for us. We have launched more initiatives in order to implement these goals, including we approved the draft law on Prosecution. Other actions, meant to speed up exclusion of corruption phenomenon from all systems, are to be taken as well. To this end, I invited foreign experts, as well as civil society to an open dialogue in order to ensure the transparency of the process,” Gaburici said.
For their part, the European officials welcomed that the government approved the draft law on Prosecution and also stressed the positive notice of the Venice Commission on this document. The co-rapporteurs voiced hope that the lawmakers would act quickly in this respect and democratic reforms would be carried out consistently in Moldova.
The European officials pay a fact-collecting visit to Moldova on 13-16 May.
