OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici has met Chinese Ambassador to Moldova Mingtao Tong. The sides exchanged information on the economic developments registered in the bilateral relations. The officials also approached the investment climate, trade exchanges, as well as assistance for development of Moldova.

The prime minister thanked for China's support both through providing non-refundable assistance and backing at international level. "We find out a positive dynamics in the relations between our states, and the bilateral projects are very important for Moldova's modernisation. We go through a period of deep reforms, which must bring benefits to Moldova's citizens," Gaburici noted.

For his part, Tong Mingtao highly appreciated the Moldovan government's openness for a consistent and dynamic dialogue with his country. He pointed out that the Chinese government paid increased attention to the evolution of the ties with Moldova. Also, the diplomat opted for turning to good account and developing the present potential in the economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian sectors. He noted that Moldova was a very important partner in the Eastern Europe region.

The agenda of the talks between the two officials was focused on Moldova's participation in the Silk Road project. A memorandum to this end was signed at a meeting of the Moldovan-Chinese intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, held in Beijing, in December 2014. The document is aimed at carrying out an economic connection between China and Europe, boosting the political dialogue, developing transport infrastructure between the Pacific Ocean and Baltic Sea, as well as reducing obstacles to trade and investments.

Another topic of the meeting was related to the opportunity to create a free economic zone in Moldova for Chinese investors, - an idea agreed by the Chinese government.
