Russia postponed import of cheap FIAT vehicles from Serbia
OREANDA-NEWS. The negotiations for abolition of export duty for FIAT vehicles, assembled in Serbia were postponed. According to the Serbian periodical Beta, at the beginning of this month Serbia was expecting the Russian delegation led by Minister of Energy Alexander Novak. Abolition of import duties for Fiat vehicles of Serbian assembly was planned to be discussed during the visit. However, the visit of the Russians was postponed; the new dates have not been announced.
Last autumn, the head of the Serbian government Alexander Vuchich and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin discussed export of Fiat vehicles to Russia. It was reported that Serbia can supply to Russia up to 100,000 Fiat vehicles per year if the customs duties are abolished.
Today the lineup of FIAT passenger cars in Russia includes the FIAT 500 hatchback (from 731,000 roubles), the Punto hatchback (from 537,000 roubles) as well as the Freemont crossover (from 1.299 million roubles).
