OREANDA-NEWS. On Friday, May 8, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who had arrived to Kyiv on a visit.

The Prime Minister noted the importance of the presence of the UN Secretary-General at the activities dedicated to the Day of remembrance and reconciliation. Today, when Ukraine for the first time alongside of Europe commemorates the date of May 8, the Secretary-General's presence symbolizes the solidarity of the United Nations with the crucial contribution of the Ukrainian people to the victory over Nazism.

In communication with Ban Ki-moon Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized the need to intensify efforts by the international community to counteract the Russian aggression in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
