OREANDA-NEWS. As per information received from Headquarter Integrated Defence Staff, Ministry of Defence, more than 22,500 soldiers have laid down their lives while discharging their duties since independence.

A proposal to construct a National War Memorial and National War Museum to commemorate our brave soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country, is under active consideration.

This information was given by Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Shri P.P. Chaudhary in Lok Sabha today.
