Toyota intends to increase its share in SUV market
OREANDA-NEWS. Toyota intends to keep and increase its share in SUV segment, which has high growth potential in Russia with its climate and road conditions in medium- and long-term prospects. This was said to AUTOSTAT at Toyota Motor press service, having mentioned that SUVs and crossovers are the key products in Toyota model range with over 50% sales share.
Meanwhile Toyota Motor states that SUV segment in the Russian market has negative dynamics as all segments in the mass market are affected by economic crisis. “The showings of Toyota in SUV segment is at the level or slightly better than average in the market”, - Toyota Motor press service reports.
In the first quarter of 2015 the best selling Toyota SUVs were the RAV4 crossover (5,822 vehicles, -28%) and the Land Cruiser Prado SUV (3,164 vehicles, -13%). The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 became the leader in its segment (F-SUV Premium) with 2,086 vehicles (-29%). The Toyota Highlander medium-size SUV had the best sales dynamics in Toyota model lineup – by 5% up to 1,431 vehicles as compared to the first quarter of 2014.
