OREANDA-NEWS. The Economics Ministry, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Norway-based SYSLAB International AS today opened a SYSLAB Centre in Comrat (administrative centre of Gagauzia).

Attending the event, Deputy Economics Minister Stephane Bride stressed that the project was a necessary alternative to develop innovative entrepreneurship and labour market in Moldova and underlined, in this context, that the Economics Ministry was set, with the support of development partners and local public authorities, to expand it in all regions of the country. "SYSLAB centres provide an innovative response to the challenges faced by the labour market of Moldova,  contributes to solving the problem of insufficient skilled personnel and offers employment opportunities to the unemployed. Last year alone, 80 per cent of the people who appealed to SYSLAB were employed", said the deputy prime minister.

For his part, British Ambassador to Moldova Philip David Batson said that by helping Moldova in creating such centres, development partners, including the UK Government, supported efforts of the Chisinau-based government to create new jobs, reduce unemployment and the number of people who intend to go to work abroad.

Referring to the same project, Gagauz-Yeri Governor Irina Vlah said that the autonomy was an open platform for cooperation both with the central authorities, and non-governmental organisations, so that the region develops, flourishes and is attractive to citizens. "For us, it is very important that projects implemented by the Moldovan government be present in Gagauzia as well, because this way we can change the situation in the autonomy in all sectors and solve the social and economic problems of the region", said Vlah.

The SYSLAB Centre launched in Comrat is the fifth career development centre, opened within the Innovative Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Employment project. The centre will  train and guide unemployed people, skilled graduates and migrants returned home to get a job in Moldova. Starting from 2013 so far, centres of excellence in career have been opened in Chisinau, Cahul, Rezina and Balti.
