GE technology and services to support conversion of Golar LNG floating liquefaction vessel
The Golar FLNG vessel project involves the conversion of a former LNG carrier, the Hilli, to a floating liquefaction vessel. Keppel Shipyard in Singapore is responsible for the design, detailed engineering and procurement of the marine systems and all of the conversion-related construction services.
GE’s turbomachinery will be controlled by GE’s Mark VIe control system, including integrated antisurge control. GE is also supplying eight anti-surge valves. These valves are designed for centrifugal compressor anti-surge and recirculation loops and ensure precise control over the operating conditions, delivering maximum equipment protection and uptime for the facility.
GE will provide key engineering staff and fabrication facilities to support deployment of its technology in the new vessel. GE’s service and support contract extends to three maintenance cycles – totalling twenty years – and will deliver a guaranteed availability rate of 98.9% from the equipment. This compares to the industry average of 92.7% and equates to 22 days of extra production per year.
Embedded with GE’s Reliability Max Predictivity solution, which is built on GE’s Industrial Internet technologies, advanced sensors in the LNG trains will support predictive maintenance, remote diagnosis, and ensure greater uptime and optimum performance levels. GE is also providing control and mechanical engineers to support the deployment, which will follow delivery of key LNG train components from early 2016. Delivery to Singapore will take place from GE’s manufacturing sites in Florence and Bari, Italy.
