OREANDA-NEWS. A bill allowing consumers to pump their own gasoline in rural areas of Oregon has been passed unanimously by the state's House of Representatives.

House Bill 3011 permits "the dispensary for Class 1 flammable liquids located in low-population county… when no owner, operator or employee of the dispensary is present."

The bill identifies the threshold for a low-population area as having fewer than 40,000 residents.

New Jersey and Oregon are the only two states in the US that do not allow end-users to pump their own gasoline.

HB 3011 will next be voted on in the Oregon Senate.
