OREANDA-NEWS. Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) will offer its fully flat-bed seats for the first time when its nonstop daily flights between Reykjavik’s Keflavik International Airport and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport begin on May 2, 2015. Delta’s seasonal service between Keflavik and New York, now offered for the fifth consecutive year, will run from May through September.

Delta has been complimented by the Icelandic Tourism Association for enhancing visitor numbers to Iceland. Along with a longer flying season this summer over 2014, passengers can fly to more than 60 destinations in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean via its hub at JFK.

“In recent years, the number of travelers from the U.S. to Iceland has been growing rapidly, in line with increased flight frequency,” said Grimur S?mundsen, chairman of the Icelandic Tourism Association. “Delta’s contribution to this growth is reflected in the fact that the majority of its passengers are visitors to Iceland. We are very pleased that Delta is expanding the season with daily flights from the start of May until the end of September.”

The U.S. airline has scheduled a Boeing 757-300 aircraft with 234 seats on the Keflavik to New York route, which is operated in conjunction with Delta’s joint venture partner Air France KLM. The Delta One business class cabin, which is scheduled on the route throughout May and September, has 180-degree forward-facing seats complete with Westin Heavenly Inflight Bedding from Westin Hotels & Resorts. For the rest of the summer months, business class passengers will enjoy our First Class premiere cabin service.  Customers will be served a five-course meal with accompanying wines selected by Delta’s Master Sommelier, Andrea Robinson.

“Delta has been re-fitting its entire international fleet with the flat-bed product and we are pleased to offer it for the first time on our services from Iceland this summer,” said Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s senior vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa. “We are committed to improving the customer experience and superior seating combined with excellent on-board service is an important part of this. We hope that our Icelandic passengers will enjoy this new feature on their next flight.”
