Delta Launches Nonstop Salt Lake City Flight from Amsterdam
Known as ‘The Crossroads of the West’, Salt Lake City will be Delta’s ninth gateway served nonstop from Amsterdam. It is situated within easy reach of some of North America’s most famous national parks, with more than 20 located within a few hours’ drive. The U.S. airline has scheduled a 210-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft for the flight which will be operated in conjunction with joint venture partner, KLM.
This summer Delta has increased its network out of Schiphol, adding extra services to New York-JFK, Detroit and Minneapolis/St Paul in March, with an additional frequency to Seattle starting on May 4. The airline will operate up to 19 peak-day nonstop flights, responding to increased demand for service between the U.S. and the Netherlands during the peak summer travel period.
“Salt Lake City offers many exciting travel options for Dutch tourists wanting to enjoy outdoor pursuits, with some of the United States’ best hiking, mountain biking and rafting nearby, plus connections to more than 50 destinations throughout the west of America and into Canada,” said Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe the Middle East and Africa. “This nonstop flight will also provide U.S. tourists and business customers flying from Salt Lake City with a vast network of connecting opportunities beyond our Amsterdam hub, thanks to our partnership with KLM.”
“We are very pleased with this new destination from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. With Salt Lake City, Delta – together with SkyTeam – is adding an important U.S. city to Schiphol’s Mainport network,” said Maarten de Groof – Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Schiphol Group. “I would like to wish Delta, its crews and customers much success with this new service.”
