OREANDA-NEWS. On March 31, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (Chairman & CEO Geewon Park) signed a contract worth 160 billion-won with Korea District Heating Corporation to construct integrated energy systems for Dongtan 2 New City, a planned city in Hwaseong, just south of Seoul in South Korea.

Under the contract, Doosan build an advanced integrated energy system – an 800MW combined heat and power plant in the eight-hectare general industrial complex located in Dongtan 2 New City. This complements the previous project(worth 380 billon-won) that Doosan was awarded last year August, to supply the integrated solutions – two gas turbines and two steam turbines – for the integrated energy system at the site.

With the recent contract, Doosan will execute the entire project ranging from plant design and production of the required equipment to construction and the provision of long-term services for the combined heat and power plant. The plant is scheduled to completion by the end of 2017, after the engineering work and construction of the main facilities.

Hun Tak Kim, CEO of the EPC BG at Doosan, said, “As a builder of integrated energy systems and solutions provider, we expect enhanced efficiency in the construction of the main facilities, and the seamless operation and management of the project sites,” adding, “Furthermore, by winning these projects, Doosan has reinforced its position as a leading integrated solutions provider, and is now set to expand reach homeland and exceed our customers’ expectations.”
