DB Schenker uses ‘transport logistics’ trade fair to present innovative offers and to acquire new talent
“We are using this trade fair once again to present our capabilities and expertise world-wide, across all modes of transport. In doing so, our focus is not only on attractive industry solutions, but also on our commitment to active climate protection,” said Dr. Karl-Friedrich Rausch, Transport and Logistics Director of DB Mobility Logistics AG. “Transport logistics also offers us the perfect platform to present the logistics area of DB as an employer, to arouse interest in us and to acquire new, qualified employees.”
Top managers from DB will be present at many events or will take part in discussions on many forums. Among them will be Dr. Karl-Friedrich Rausch, Transport and Logistics Director of DB Mobility Logistics AG, Dr. Alexander Hedderich, Chairman of DB Schenker Rail, and Dr. Hansj?rg Rodi, Chairman of the Board of Schenker Deutschland AG.
The focus of the DB Schenker trade fair appearance this year will include the presentation of modern digital solutions for trade and industry, such as the ‘eSchenker’ solution from DB Schenker Logistics and the ‘TechLok’ solution from DB Schenker Rail.
Since January 2015, DB Schenker Logistics has bundled all services across all modes of transport into one new online platform. This portal connects national subsidiaries and business partners in 130 countries across the globe through one single system. This means data for all services - whether ocean freight, air freight or overland transport - are available on one platform. Customers can therefore retrieve detailed information about shipments as quick as a flash, such as the current transport prices or terms of different shipping companies.
Under the name ‘TechLok’, DB Schenker Rail is currently equipping locomotives and freight cars with extensive diagnostic systems, which enable early detection of faults, for example, and thus also make it possible to optimize workshop visits. This also means that the locomotives communicate with each other. By the end of 2014, 30 locomotives were equipped with the new diagnostic technology. By 2020, around 3,000 locomotives throughout Europe are to run with this technology.
Visitors to Hall B 6, Stand 209/310 can experience the extensive and multifaceted range of business areas of DB Schenker Logistics and DB Schenker Rail. During the trade fair, around 60 experts from the different industries and product areas will be available to chat at the extensive DB Schenker area, which covers some 1,200 square meters. School pupils, students and professionals can find out about professional training and career opportunities at DB Schenker over the entire duration of the trade fair.
DB Netz AG, the infrastructure company of Deutsche Bahn, will be presenting itself at the ‘transport logistics’ trade fair as a partner in the value creation chain of the railway transport company. The focus will primarily be on networked innovations, the digitization of the timetable and the enhancement of the track price system for customers.
Two interactive solutions will demonstrate networked innovations, which simplify work before, during and after the train journey. With the interactive KV terminal card, all public rail container terminals in Europe can be called up simply with the associated direct connections and their operators. In the interactive loading area card, all loading areas of DB Netz AG and, in cooperation with VDV, ?BB and BLS, information about loading areas in Germany which are not operated by DB Netz AG, as well as loading areas in Austria and Switzerland, will be displayed transparently. The interactive loading area card enables easy retrieval of the necessary information for the transshipment of goods from road onto rail, and vice versa.
The timetable will be digitized in accordance with standardized criteria, such as the speed or load of the trains, and should bring more freight trains onto the network. The new procedure will be trialled in the network timetable for 2016. Starting with the network timetable for 2017 (from the timetable switchover in December 2016), DB Netz AG will offer standardization for around 85 percent of the entire railway freight traffic. The basic logic and reasons behind the enhanced track price system, which will be introduced with the network timetable in 2017, will be presented.
On 6 May 2015, from 10.30 am, a business breakfast on the digitization of the timetable will be held with Dr. Michael Beck, Head of Timetables, and on 7 Ma 2015 from 10.30 am, a business breakfast on the enhancement of the track price system will be held with Mario Theis, Head of Prices and Products, at the DB Netz AG stand.
