OREANDA-NEWS. LLP "Airport Management Group" (subsidiary of JSC "Kazakhstan Temir zholy") and akimat of South Kazakhstan region signed a memorandum on the construction of an international airport in the city of Shymkent.

As part of the project it is planned the construction of passenger and cargo terminals. According to the concept of the project, new terminals integrated with the railway, bus stations and transport and logistics center, which is currently under construction. This concept of development of the airport will be used for the first time in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Construction of a passenger terminal area of ??34,000 sq.m. provides 2 stages, which will increase capacity to 2.5 million. passengers per year. On the basis of the cargo terminal, in cooperation with the transport and logistics center will be developed air logistics hub, which has its own temporary storage warehouses and customs checkpoints. Timeline for implementation of the first phase of construction identified until 2020.

At the northern part of the airport, there is an operating terminal, reserved for the development of aviation complex for special use, business aviation and hangar buildings.

The total investment is estimated at 143 million. US dollars. It is planed to create more than 1,000 jobs.
