KAMAZ opened the building of gas trucks
OREANDA-NEWS. KAMAZ today opened the building of trucks, the planned production capacity – is up to 8000 units per year.
Implementation of the project "Organization of production of KAMAZ trucks and bus chassis with gas engines in the automobile plants" lasted just over a year, informed the press service of KAMAZ. The production site located in a former gas-diesel building of the plant, new equipment is already installed and running in test mode. Project budget (with taxes) was about 500 million Rubles.
Chassis assembly and installation of the gas engine will be held on the main assembly line of automobile plant. Then this "kit" will be sent to the building of gas vehicles for further installation of LPG equipment to conduct the entire test cycle, as well as for running of vehicles and chassis. In this case, gas engines "KAMAZ" (including the upgraded component base with Bosch) that are assembled at the engine plant, are also being tested and tested in full.
As noted at KAMAZ, the production of vehicles "KAMAZ" and gas-powered buses – is an important step in promoting LPG technology, which is supported by the state. So, at the end of last year, the decision of the Russian government approved the rules for granting subsidies for the purchase of NGV buses and equipment for the utilities. In addition, Tatarstan was among the pilot regions, where the project of transferring of vehicles to natural gas. According to the Russian Ministry of Energy, the promoting of increased use of gas fuel by 2030 will increase the production of cars that use gas fuel, to 3.8 million units, the number of gas stations - to 8.4 thousand units. All this will create more than 58,900 new jobs, and it will permit to reduce pollutant emissions.
According to General Director of KAMAZ, Sergey Kogoghin, the company today has the potential to help to change for gas at least 50% of public transport. The fuel at the production of KAMAZ is used compressed natural gas, the use of which can reduce significantly the amount of toxic substances in exhaust gases - up to the standards of "Euro-4", "Euro-5". Vehicles that use gas allow the 5-time reduction of emissions compared to traditional techniques for fuels. This is especially important for large cities, where the lion's share of air pollution accounted for road transport. Thus the cost of compressed natural gas is three times less than the cost of traditional diesel fuel for trucks. As a result, natural gas vehicles pay off faster than diesel counterpart, despite the higher cost of purchase.
