According to the agency “Auto-Dealer-SPb”, in I quarter of 2015 St. Petersburg plants Toyota, GM, Nissan and Hyundai produced 71,500 new passenger cars – it is less by 27% than for the same period of the last year. In March it was recorded the best result so far this year - the assembly lines produced 27,200 vehicles (-20%). For the last two weeks of March the plant Nissan was not working, also from the middle of the month General Motors stopped the production of its two main models - Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra.

"Only by freezing of production at the GM plant the production of cars in St. Petersburg will be reduced this year by 10%”, - said General Director of “Auto-Dealer-SPb”, Michael Chaplygin. – “The launched program of preferential car loan is unlikely to help the car industry of city. Only products of Hyundai meet its parameters, but the company is already working to full capacity”.

The share of the St. Petersburg automobile industry with respect to the all-Russian production volume of cars in the first quarter was 20.1%. Still the Top-25 of best-selling models of cars in Russia includes only three representatives of St. Petersburg auto plants - Hyundai Solaris, KIA Rio and Toyota Camry. Totally four car plants of St. Petersburg produce 12 car models: Chevrolet Captiva, Cadillac ATS, Cadillac CTS, Cadillac SRX, Cadillac Escalade, Nissan Teana, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Murano, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Solaris and KIA Rio.
