OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2015. KLM Customer Experience Officer Ryanne van der Eijk explained, “It has been a desire of ours for many years to arrange a partnership such as this and I am proud that we will now be able to deliver our specially selected wines directly to our passengers’ homes.”

SpecialBite is an online independent restaurant guide, which only writes about exceptional restaurants. The guide was launched in 2000 and examines not only food, but the total eating experience. It is aimed at “foodies” who want to be the first to hear about new places to eat. SpecialBite tests new restaurants itself.

The KLM and SpecialBite partnership stretches beyond the wine shop. Together KLM and SpecialBite are selecting a group of around 20 cabin crew volunteers who will spot restaurants around the world and write about them for SpecialBite. These foodies will go in search of exceptional restaurants, good bars and unusual cafes.

KLM has been offering meals designed by leading Dutch chefs in its World Business Class for many years. By working with top chefs and sommeliers, KLM continuously invests in its onboard service. In the past KLM has served meals by Sergio Herman, Richard Ekkebus and Mario Ridder. The meals being served until the end of October 2015 are by Jonnie Boer.

World Business Class passengers are provided with information about the wine(s) they drink onboard. Now, both passengers and wine-lovers will be able to enjoy the same, select wines at home. This is the start of a unique partnership between KLM and SpecialBite.
