Subscribers will help Tele2 improve the quality of mobile services
OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has summed up first results of the “Companion” application’s work. It allows subscribers to actively take part in improvement of connections quality. By the end of 2015 the company will launch the application in all Tele2-penetrated regions.
In October 2014, Tele2 was the first operator to have launched this application in Chelyabinsk Region, St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region. The service is working in the background of the subscriber’s phone and transmits all data to the company’s technical service. Besides, Tele2 subscribers may use the application to gauge data speed, the signal’s level in- and outdoors.
In 2015, the application will be available in all Tele2-penetrated regions. This will reduce the time needed to carry out work on quality improvement thanks to accurate fine-tuning and faster finding of new locations to set up new base stations. In the first place, “Companion” will become available in those regions where Tele2 has already launched 3G and 4G networks: in Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Tambov, Nizhniy Novgorod and Tula.
The application will be largely improved − for example, it will have widgets for the quick access to the main functions of the application and a button for a temporary pause in operations of “Companion”. Subscribers will be able to share results of quality tests on social networks.
After the launch the application has been installed by around 10 000 subscribers of Tele2. Over the period, the service has fixed around 70 000 cases of decrease in quality in the background, which allowed spotting problem zones in large cities. Subscribers used “Companion” to send over 800 applications that contained comments and coordinates of location. This largely contributed to faster solution of the problem. Based on the data received, Tele2 carried out optimization of the network and planned construction of new base stations for improvement of quality in the region.
The most popular options among “Companion” users are those drafted to measure the level of signal indoors and gauge data speed – they were tested by over 20% of subscribers who installed the application. To test signal level in motion, the users drove over 600 km.
Thanks to “Companion”, users may not only send an application and evaluate the services’ quality but also find the nearest stores, the operator’s helpful numbers and get information on the Tele2 network coverage.
