Qantas will return to the Perth-Singapore route
OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2015. Qantas will return to the Perth-Singapore route as part of a number of improvements for West Australian travellers.
From 26 June Qantas will operate five return Boeing 737 Perth-Singapore services each week – a total of almost 1700 seats and will offer special one way sale fares starting at \\$199.
Qantas International Chief Executive Officer Gareth Evans made the announcement in Perth while inspecting works on the airline’s new domestic Business Lounge which has capacity for more than 350 customers and is expected to open its doors later this year.
“We know how important it is for West Australian business travellers to have seamless access to Asia so we’re delighted to be able to offer the Perth-Singapore route with a schedule and aircraft type that will make it commercially viable,” Mr Evans said.
“The new international service has been made possible through the Qantas Group’s aircraft utilisation program – which is about having the right aircraft on the right route – and matching schedules with customer demand.”
Customers travelling between Perth and Singapore will experience seat back in-flight entertainment and new economy meals. A dedicated 12 seat Business Class cabin features a Neil Perry Rockpool dining experience and amenity kits from Kate Spade and Jack Spade. The popular Qantas pyjamas will also be provided on the evening service from Singapore to Perth in the Business Class cabin.
“The service from Perth will arrive into Singapore at 5.20pm providing excellent connections with our airline partners into key regional Asia destinations including Tokyo, Shanghai and Delhi subject to regulatory approval,” Mr Evans said.
“Eligible customers will also have access to the Qantas Lounge at Perth’s international terminal as well as the award winning Singapore lounge.
Domestically, Qantas has an additional two weekly return services between Perth and Brisbane, for a total of up to 30 flights between the two cities every week. Today, Qantas’ fifth reconfigured A330 aircraft featuring the new Business Suite will enter service operating into Perth from Brisbane.
The Qantas Group will also introduce F100 aircraft on some services from Perth to Port Hedland, Karratha, Newman and Broome later this year. This change will enable Qantas to maintain the level of frequency while better matching capacity with changing market demand.
“Two F100 aircraft have been purchased to operate these services by Qantas Group airline Network Aviation taking their fleet of the type to 14 and position it better to respond to the changing dynamics and frequency needs of the resources market,” Mr Evans said.
Since ending its regular Perth to Singapore service in May 2014, Qantas has operated seasonal services between the two cities during peak holiday periods and will for the third year in a row operate a seasonal service from Perth to Auckland between October this year and April 2016.
