Exxon Beaumont olefins plant resumes operations

OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2015. ExxonMobil successfully restarted its integrated chemical plant in Beaumont, Texas this week after a fire forced the plant to shut down on 30 March, the company told Argus today.

The site can produce up to 1.8bn lb/yr of ethylene as well as associated derivatives. The restart process began on 1 April.

The Beaumont chemical plant was shut down 30 March after a fire broke out on a propylene line following a vapor release, according to a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality air emissions report. The fire was extinguished, and the plant was safely shutdown later that day.
