"Avtotor" can start the production of vehicles MG
OREANDA-NEWS. Kaliningrad plant "Avtotor" started the test assembly of sedan MG6 Magnette, and at the site of the finished products of the enterprise there are already about 40 cars of this model. It is reported by portal "Russian car" with reference to its sources, which, however, could not predict the date of commencement of full production.
General Director of "Avtotor", Alexander Sorokin, answered the question about the prospects of the assembly in Kaliningrad of MG: "We never comment on negotiations with anyone, but we do not hide the signing of formal agreements”.
Recall the British brand MG is now owned by the Chinese concern SAIC. The cars themselves are made in China and the UK, and in the latter case we are talking about SKD kits from China. In Britain, the car is only sold with a diesel engine, and in the Russian market, it is likely to be equipped with a gasoline engine 1.8 with a capacity of 133 HP (There are turbo versions 161 HP).
MG6 Magnette was built on a platform of "the last British Sedan" Rover 75, 1998, developed in collaboration with BMW. After the bankruptcy of MG-Rover Group the platform Rover 75 was bought by the Chinese concern SAIC, which has created on its basis a number of different models under the brands MG and Roewe. The most recent of them are - Roewe 550 and MG6 Magnette, which differ from each other by exterior design.
