Freight One boosts boxcar volumes in Q1 2015
In particular, the volumes of non-ferrous metals increased more than twice YoY to 290 thou tons; grain volumes grew 18%, reaching 62 thou tons; oil cake and meal grew 6% to 27 thou tons; and perishable goods went up 67%, totaling 16 thou tons.
Growth dynamics was secured through active contracting to increase the cargo base and expand the cargo range, arranged by the Company's specialists, as well as through the boxcar renovation program, focused on improving their commercial and technical condition.
External and internal economic factors over the reporting period adjusted the cargo structure. The share of exports in the total boxcar transportation volume increased 21% to 700 thou tons; inland transportation through the Russian territory grew 2%, reaching 1.25 mln tons; while import cargo transportation recorded a decline of 33%, totaling 82 thou tons.
