OREANDA-NEWS. A round table was held at Russia: The Inside Track, Sberbank CIB's1 Moscow investment conference, which is taking place in the format of one-on-one meetings between investors and senior management of corporations. The round table featured Dmitri Trenin, Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center.

Discussions touched on a wide range of issues relevant to the investment and business communities, and focused on general Russian economic and socio-political issues, the global geopolitical situation, the investment climate, and Russia's possible development scenarios.

Mr Trenin noted that a re-assessment of certain aspects of economic and political development is taking place in Russia, but at the same time the country is demonstrating resistance to volatility.

Discussion of possible geopolitical risks and political and economic forecasts was of particular interest to the participants of the round table. In terms of stabilisation factors and their influence on Russia's investment climate, Mr Trenin pointed out the necessity for the Russian economy to develop in a stable manner, commenting: "Russia is currently finding its way, and it is vital that we take the right step forward. The current situation is paving the way for new opportunities for positive change and development."

The Moscow conference is being attended by 125 delegates from 35 companies and more than 100 representatives of the investment community, including portfolio managers and analysts from major global institutional investors. Participants are from a range of countries: the US, UK, Switzerland, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, Singapore and Russia.
