Lukashenko: CSTO should not turn into fictitious organization
Alexander Lukashenko asked Nikolai Bordyuzha to inform him about the situation in the post-Soviet space and, in particular, in the CSTO. “What, in your opinion, should be done to promptly respond to any pending issues?” the Belarusian head of state said.
The Belarusian President noted that he would like to discuss a number of issues which have an impact on the performance of the organization in order “to prevent it from turning into another fictitious organization.”
Nikolai Bordyuzha informed the President about the activities and plans of the CSTO. The meeting focused on the situation which exists today in the CSTO space, on the complicated situation in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, on frozen conflicts.
“There are many problems. We keep an eye on these issues. And we should take preventive measures to have an opportunity to neutralize any threats that our countries can face,” Nikolai Bordyuzha said.
Nikolai Bordyuzha also put forward a number of proposals regarding military cooperation. Alexander Lukashenko approved some of them.
