Taiheiyo Cement's CSR Report 2014 Wins Award
OREANDA-NEWS. Taiheiyo Cement Corporation's CSR Report 2014, published in September 2014, has been honored with an Award for Excellence in the environmental reporting category at the 18th Environmental Communication Awards, sponsored by Japan's Ministry of the Environment and the Global Environmental Forum, a non-profit environmental organization.
The Environmental Communication Awards were established in 1997 to promote efforts in corporate environmental management and environmental communication and to raise the quality of information disclosure concerning environmental issues by acknowledging excellence in environmental reporting.
Taiheiyo Cement received the award in recognition of its reporting in accordance with GRI G4 Guidelines and for: providing details on the analysis of risks in its business activities and the process and results of identifying material issues; disclosing information about negative events such as product recalls, as well as measures to address them; and reporting on performance using a unique set of key performance indicators adopted by the Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Taiheiyo Cement is the only Japanese company that complies with the CSI Charter.
The award has encouraged Taiheiyo Cement to continue enhancing its CSR reports toward deepening stakeholder understanding of Taiheiyo Cement Group operations, and to reinforce its CSR initiatives as it strives to create a recycling-based society.c
