OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2015. Welcome to our 2015 Power and Renewables Deals outlook. It is the latest in our annual series in which we look at mergers and acquisitions activity in the power utilities sector.

We start the report with a look at some of the main themes that will drive deal activity in the year ahead. In 2014 the big deal spotlight was largely focused on the US. We expect activity in 2015 to be more globally balanced. There’s likely to be an element of ‘wait and see’ as dealmakers take stock of a changed energy pricing environment. There are also a number of wider economic uncertainties to give investors some pause for thought, not least the risk of deflation. But this is also likely to heighten interest in the stable contracted or regulated returns available in the sector. On the following pages we highlight the key developments that are likely to characterise 2015 M&A activity in the sector worldwide. We also look at the main deal hotspots which provide particular deal opportunities as well as review who is doing what and where. We conclude the report with a look at activity in the main regions of the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe.
