OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2015. Within the framework of the International Exhibition KazAtomExpo-20115, which is being held on April 7-9 in Astana, JSC ATOMPROEKT has showcased projects that may be implemented in Kazakhstan.

“At KazAtomExpo, JSC ATOMPROEKT is presenting prospective and sought-after projects implemented both in Russia and abroad. Today, some European and Asian countries express their interest in our projects and consider their implementation. Events such as the industry-specific exhibition in Kazakhstan, which gathers stakeholders from different countries, help not only to promote solutions, but also to establish a dialogue between parties,” Sergey Onufrienko, JSC ATOMPROEKT Director General, noted.

NPP-2006, a high-capacity nuclear power plant design project, which is showcased at the exhibition, has already been implemented at Leningrad NPP-2 in Russia, in the Republic of Belarus, at Hanhikivi-1 NPP in Finland and at Paks-2 NPP in Hungary; furthermore, contract negotiations are being conducted to discuss the implementation of the Ninh Thuan-1 NPP project in Vietnam. NPP-2006 represents itself an evolutionary development of designs of NPPs equipped with VVER-1000 reactors. Power units are designed and constructed in compliance with the requirements of the Russian regulations, IAEA guidelines and the European Utility Requirements for LWR Nuclear Power Plants (EUR). The project meets the post-Fukushima requirements. Reactor’s rated electric power amounts to 1,200 MW, thermal power – to 3,200 MW.

Projects to rehabilitate contaminated areas, nuclear legacy facilities, as well as radioactive waste burial sites that have been developed by experts from JSC ATOMPROEKT are aimed at preserving natural ecosystems and improving people’s quality of life. Designs of burial facilities differ depending on radioactive waste type and activity level.
