The largest subdivision of the Belgorod branch of IDGC of Centre celebrated the 65th anniversary
Belgorod Distribution Zone was formed April 5, 1950. The decision to establish the city of Belgorod power authority was adopted by the Executive Board of the Council of Deputies to ensure the effective functioning of the municipal electric facilities. Since 1964, the history of the company is closely linked to Belgorodenergo.
"By the time of the formation on the balance sheet there were only 63 km of power lines, 11 transformer substations, and the number of employees was 14 people," stressed Sergey Demidov. "Over the past decade production capacity grew up considerably, and with it labour productivity increased and considerable experience was accumulated, and many generations of highly skilled professionals were brought up."
Today Belgorod Distribution Zone operates over 5,300 km of power lines of 0.4-10 kV, 930 transformer substations and distribution points of 6-10 kV, from which all enterprises and the population of the regional centre are powered. The main feature of the electric grid of the city is the predominance of cable lines, their total length is more than 3 thousand kilometres.
Sergey Bozhenov stressed that the number of consumers served for 65 years also increased many times: from 7,000 in 1950 to 172 thousand today. And considering that Belgorod has consistently been one of the most comfortable cities of Russia, and its infrastructure is sensitive to any, even minor, power failure, the power engineers have double responsibility. Therefore, both the production base, and qualifying personnel of the company meet the highest standards.
Staff of Belgorod Distribution Zone provides reliable and quality power supply for residents of the regional centre, enterprises and organizations of the city, carrying out timely repair and reconstruction, improving mechanisms to control the grid complex, using modern equipment and technologies.
In addition to cable and overhead power lines, the Belgorod power engineers maintain about 3 thousand kilometres of outdoor lighting networks and more than 33 thousand lighting fixtures. Possibilities of a modern automated control system allows to remote control outdoor lighting, switching on and off of lamps from an operator’s control panel. This makes the streets of Belgorod even lighter and safer.
Priority of Belgorod Distribution Zone is connection of customers. Only in 2014 148 businesses and 612 individuals were connected to the power grid, but the number of contracts increases every year, indicating the development of individual housing construction and small business.
For professionalism, many years of hard work and contribution to the development of the power sector the best employees of the company were awarded certificates of gratitude from the authorities of the city of Belgorod and IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division.
