NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) today announced that NEC Australia, a leading technology solutions and services company, has been awarded a multi-million Australian dollar Telephony Solutions and Services contract by Victoria's Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA), the critical link between the Victorian Community and the State's emergency service agencies.

Under the terms of the deal, NEC Australia will maintain and support the Telephony Solutions and Services, including the State's Triple Zero Communications (emergency communications) Platform to enable a robust service with a highly reliable, fault tolerant platform that ensures continuous emergency services for Victorian Government agencies across the State.

The improvement of reliability and uptime of the network will provide greater support to ESTA's mission critical operational communications infrastructure that is key to ensuring reliable, continuous and effective customer services for ESTA's emergency call-taking and dispatch services for Police, Fire, Ambulance and VICSES.

The 7 year contract covers the organisation's telephones, including SV9500 PABX units and a Genesys call centre Solution.

The project will see NEC Australia manage enhancements of a fully integrated communications solution, including email routing and management, web chat routing, short message service routing, social media routing, mobile applications and agent desktop tools. In a society driven by the need for new communications media, the solution has a roadmap that not only enhances the current media but also takes into consideration any new and emerging technologies.

The arrangement builds on NEC Australia's 45 years of experience working with the Victorian Government to deliver ICT solutions and services to enhance public services.

This partnership further highlight's NEC Australia's commitment to the public sector and emergency services, with extensive experience managing information technology infrastructure services for Australia's Government agencies, including Box Hill Hospital, Northern Territory Government and South Australian Government.
