Nguyen Phu Trong (via interpreter): Mr Prime Minister and Chairman of the United Russia party, I am happy to welcome you and your delegation on your official visit to Vietnam. It’s noteworthy that you have come during the period of celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the 40th anniversary of the reunification of Vietnam, and the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries, as well as preparations for the 70th anniversary of Victory in the war against Nazism. Russia and Vietnam have had good relations. I hope this visit will be one more positive event in our relations and will enliven our all-round strategic partnership. I am happy to meet with you.

We are glad to be here during this period of great significance for our countries. I’m honoured to convey warm regards from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
We remember with pleasure your recent visit to Russia late last year. During our meeting, we discussed issues of state development, issues related to economic cooperation, and interparty issues.
Of course, this visit is an opportunity to boost our relations and to mark the significant events that are celebrated in our countries. I’m referring to the 70th anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the 70th anniversary of Victory in the war against Nazism, and the 40th anniversary of the reunification of Vietnam. One more important date is the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries.
We are meeting not only to congratulate each other on our holidays. Today we held full-scale talks on developing economic, scientific, educational, and cultural cooperation between our countries.
