OREANDA-NEWS. AvtoVAZ will start mass production of the new crossover Lada XRAY on December 15th, 2015. It was stated by the president of AvtoVAZ, Bo Andersson, by adding that the car will be produced at the main assembly line of the enterprise in Togliatti. According to the head of AvtoVAZ, the first pre-production sample of XRAY will be assembled this spring, and he personally plans to test the new product already on April 22nd.

At this moment, the crossover Lada XRAY is being tested in Germany, writes AutoNews.ru. It was for a while fixed only mule in the body of Renault Sandero, on which engineers are testing the basic components and joints of XRAY. However, the next assembled car will receive already its own original body and a 1.8-liter engine produces 123 hp, which will be paired with a robotic gearbox.

Initial modifications of XRAY will be received by 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 114 HP from the company Renault. Also the engine range of new car will include AvtoVAZ 16-valve unit of the same volume capacity, 106 hp.

Soon the model XRAY will pass European crash test by standard EuroNCAP. AVTOVAZ expects that the car pick up at least three stars of five.

Crossover Lada XRAY is developed by AvtoVAZ jointly with Renault-Nissan alliance on the platform B0. The exterior of the car was worked out by the chief designer of AvtoVAZ, Steve Mattin. FWD version of XRAY is created based on Renault Sandero.
